DISCLAIMER, CONDITIONS AND AGREEMENT
The Richmond Surname DNA Project organizers are volunteers and have no commercial affiliation with any profit making organization and receive no compensation for services involved with this project. At present, this website is maintained for posting DNA results and pedigrees of participants who choose to make their information available.
Although the Richmond Project has arranged for discounts at FTDNA, that by no means suggests a business partnership or other relationship between the Project and the Laboratory. All funds are payable only and directly to the Laboratory. The Richmond Project will not be the recipient nor steward of any DNA samples and has no responsibility for their care, handling or return to participant, nor duty to act on behalf of Participant in mediation of any dispute between the Participant and the Laboratory.
While a match between two participants may indicate that they share a common male ancestor, it will not identify the specific ancestor and there is no guarantee that every participant will match another participant.
By participation in the project, the participant agrees to all conditions of the Project.
Privacy
Y-DNA testing does not reveal information used for medical or criminal investigation purposes. It may however reveal a non-paternity event somewhere in the participant's family tree. This would not be apparent until and unless, a comparison is made with DNA of a close relative and find the results to be dissimilar. This circumstance can be a part of genealogy research. Finding your roots is really what genealogy is all about anyway.
The Richmond DNA Project encrypts email addresses in the computer code. This is an extra step that helps to keep addresses private from automated email collection. Please read these email tips to help avoid junk email. (There will be a contact form available soon, that will allow a website user to send email to members and line-leaders without having to store the address in the code at all.) PLEASE report any spam or other network abuse here.
For pedigrees and family trees, it is the responsibility of the 'poster' to determine what information is posted. (ex. names of living people, and/or birth dates of the living, etc.)
